Just a flash post…
BlankOn Linux 5.0 “Nanggar” has been released this June 16…
The nickname “Nanggar” means “Hammer” in the Batak language of North Sumatra. (The next release will be called “Ombilin”, in reference to the Minang culture of West Sumatra; while the previous release was nicknamed after the Acehnese word of “Meuligoe”.)
More information about the latest release of this Ubuntu-based distro from Indonesia can be found here (just scroll down the release note page for an English version)…
Noted features and applications:
- the “Desktop Kontekstual”, which adapts the desktop’s theme and wallpaper to the time of day and current weather condition;
- the latest update of the “Aksara Nusantara”, a text editor capable of displaying the alphabets of local Indonesian dialects.
