For those wanting to learn Bahasa Indonesia, perhaps this may be of interest:

The Indonesian Language Programme for Non-Native Speakers (Program Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing)

at Indonesia’s Open University (Universitas Terbuka, or UT), an accredited distance-learning state university.

The newly-established certificate programme is only offering a beginner’s level for starters, but plans to offer advanced levels of learning Indonesian later on. The fee is US$250 for the beginner’s level, and up to US$650 for the advanced levels.

Not sure yet how this compares in price and quality with offerings from other language course centers or universities, but it should be worth considering.

Those keen and in need of a formal recognition for their proficiency in Indonesian can further check out:

The Indonesian Proficiency Test (Uji Kemahiran Berbahasa Indonesia)

from the Ministry of National Education’s National Language Center (Pusat Bahasa Depdiknas).

While we’re at it, the National Language Center also provides an online version of:

The Indonesian Dictionary (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia)

More information and references about the Indonesian language can of course be found at Wikipedia as well.
