Help the Tweenbots!

What would you do if you met a robot on the streets, lost and lonely and looking for directions?
That’s what the Tweenbots social experiment project by Kacie Kinzer from NYU’s ITP sought to find out.
A cardboard robot, that could only roll in a straight line, was put to test, with only a smiley face, and a little flag crying “Help Me!” and its destination, to bid passersby to help it out.
The results? It took the Tweenbot 42 minutes to get from the Northeast to the Southwest Corner of New York’s Washington Square Park, with a little help from 29 people who intervened whenever the bot was caught in a muck.

Apa yang bakal kita lakukan kalo ketemu sebuah robot di jalanan, yang keliatan bingung mencari arah-tujuan?
Itulah yang coba dilakukan Kacie Kinzer dari ITP NYU lewat proyek eksperimen sosial-nya yang bernama Tweenbots.
Sebuah robot kardus, yang hanya bisa berjalan lurus, dilepas di jalanan, dengan hanya modal senyum manis, dan sebuah bendera kecil bertuliskan “Tolong Aku!” dan tempat tujuannya, untuk meminta orang2 yang lewat agar membantunya.
Hasilnya? Si Tweenbot butuh waktu 42 menit untuk berjalan dari gerbang timur-laut ke gerbang barat-daya Washington Square Park di kota New York, dengan bantuan 29 orang yang peduli pada si robot.
